But eventually, I did make it out of the city. This is the Tejon Pass at Interstate 5, right near the San Andreas Fault. It's a really beautiful stretch of highway that bends and curves its way through the Angeles "National Forest," which is really just some pretty big mountains and valleys with desert scrub. I liked this picture a). because of the Runaway Truck Ramp and b). because of the way you can see the immense flatness of the central valley of California, which I was to be spending the next six hours driving through.
